August meeting

The August meeting will be 2 PM Sunday August 28 at Chris's house.

P.S.

Thanks so much for the wonderful dinner, Debbie! Baked Alaska really takes the cake!!
It was fun to read "Winterdance", and I think that Chris may have the tally on the rating of our book. I will check my email to find out. If you read this, Chris - I think that we can be squeezed in for "The Hotel at Bitter and Sweet", as our next book. If so, how about you and I just switch places for choosing a book?

I kind of want to choose a mystery... any suggestions?

We are now reading Debbie's choice, "The Hiding Place", by Corrie Ten Boom. I read this back in the late 70's. It's such a long time ago, that I remember the circumstances, but not all of the particulars. What a strange era the people in Europe lived through during the years of WWII. Hard to believe how people can be so brutal, and others can so willingly put their lives into such danger to protect others.

Agreed Esther, the book captured me and amazed me with the depth of Corrie and Betsie's faith.

Hi All,
I don't think I will be able to make this next meeting, as Gary and I are hoping to celebrate our 34th anniversary this weekend! I do have the books for our next read - and in fact it turned out that we were able to get the book Chris wanted "Hotel at the Corner of Bitter and Sweet". I will call Chris to let her know and to see what kind of arrangements we can figure out for getting the books to you all.
I will be interested to hear of your impressions of The Hiding Place. What an amazing story, and how wonderful to consider that in the midst of the most horrible circumstances there was love, light and hope.
