I think I just counted 94 books that we've read since starting this book club. Simply amazing! That means 94 wonderful, delicious, thoughtful meals as well!!!! It's fun to go back and look at the old titles which sparks lots of memories.
Thank you to whoever has taken the time to post all the titles. :)

August meeting
The August meeting will be 2 PM Sunday August 28 at Chris's house.
P.S.
Thanks so much for the wonderful dinner, Debbie! Baked Alaska really takes the cake!!
It was fun to read "Winterdance", and I think that Chris may have the tally on the rating of our book. I will check my email to find out. If you read this, Chris - I think that we can be squeezed in for "The Hotel at Bitter and Sweet", as our next book. If so, how about you and I just switch places for choosing a book?
I kind of want to choose a mystery... any suggestions?
We are now reading Debbie's choice, "The Hiding Place", by Corrie Ten Boom. I read this back in the late 70's. It's such a long time ago, that I remember the circumstances, but not all of the particulars. What a strange era the people in Europe lived through during the years of WWII. Hard to believe how people can be so brutal, and others can so willingly put their lives into such danger to protect others.

OOOPS!
I made a mistake in ordering the Wrong Book for what Barbara requested. She actually wanted a book by Gary Paulsen titled, "Winterdance". I just sent an email to Paula after noticing that there are multiple copies of that title in the book club collection. I am hoping that I will get it in by Monday!
Thanks for being patient with me!!

Books Have Arrived!
Hi Everyone,
I'm writing to let you know that the next books, "Brian's Winter", by Gary Paulsen and chosen by Barbara have arrived at the library. Please let me know if you need to have a copy either mailed to you are brought to your home. It is a very short book and I am confident will be a quick read.
Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend holiday!

Lovely Evening
We enjoyed a lovely gathering and delicious meal at Barbara's last night. It was nice, but slightly breezy, dining and discussing al fresco at the Love Shack. We were treated with Rob and Barbara's very own Pinot Noir which was a hit with all of us - it was so very good. We were sorry to miss Annette, Esther and Gerry. Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong was an interesting follow-up to our previous selection and provided, as always, interesting and thoughtful discussion.
We need to get both Annette and Lisa scheduled into our book selection list and our hosting list. Hopefully we will be able to get these worked out at our next gathering.
Our next book, which is Barbara's selection, is not available yet. Esther will contact us when she has the books, which is expected to be in a couple of weeks.
Debbie will be hosting our next gathering, which will be Sunday, July 31 at 2pm. The location is yet to be determined. It may be at Debbie's place in Wenatchee, it may be up river at Debbie and Terry's place, or it may be at the Columbia Breaks Interpretive Center. Debbie will let us know as we get closer to the meeting date. Where ever it will be, I'm looking forward to another fun gathering of friends. Planning on seeing you all then.

June Gathering
Thank you Nancy for another delicious meal! It's always so nice to gather with friends and enjoy great food and good discussions. The selection we read and discussed was Gerry's pick: Global Peace and the Rise of Antichirst by Dave Hunt. This book explained one view of the coming rapture and Armageddon and presented interesting ideas to consider and discuss. Our new friend Lisa was able to join us again, but we missed seeing Annette; hoping to see her at our next gathering. Speaking of which, our next meeting will be held at Barbara's home on Monday, June 13th at 6pm. Looking forward to seeing everyone then!
