Hi all,

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. At our Christmas book exchange gathering, we decided to have our next book club meeting on Feb 18th, 5:30pm at Claudia's house. Please let us know on this blog site if anyone has a conflict with this date. This should give everyone enough time to read our selection "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle". - Basket Lady

Ok, I finally got in - what should I bring tonight besides books, paper etc. ?  Wine, desert,  bread?
I'll probably call since I don't trust that this will get posted.

Time for Dinner Meeting

I found out that I will be able to start our dinner earlier than usual. I would like to schedule it at 5:00 PM. I am going to make soup, salad, bread and cheese.. my usual fare! The upcoming weather sounds very chilly, so we will just play it by ear. Safety is foremost, and please don't feel you must attend if the weather is inclement.

I am really enjoying The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I think if I'm correct, that Melanie would be the next one to choose, and then Debbie, and then me. Be thinking and if you can decide early, let me know so that it is easier for Paula to get us copies. Thanks!

Yeah (i think) for snow!!!

Communication

Communication~great for marriages and book clubs. Great idea, Esther, I mean Granny! If I ever get to be a grandmother, I want my grandkids to call me Grammie~because I used to have a Grammie who was my best friend while I was growing up. Grandparents can be extra-special people.
Look forward to seeing everyone on the 18th!!!!!!!!!
Melanie
Melanie's Current Reading List: Brunner & Suddarth's Medical-Surgical Nursing in two volumes. Current section being studied: Intestional and Rectal Disorders--important topics but can be "deep" at times;). Only 20 pages to go before moving on to Volume 2 which starts with Metabolic and Digestive Function~gets me reminiscing about all the exciting meals we've shared as a Book Club. I do find nursing an exciting adventure~my cup of tea!!!!!!!

I'm figuring this out too!

We will all get better at this I'm sure. I just realized that I needed to grant admin privileges to you in order to allow you to edit posts. I just did that for Chris and Barbara, the two of you who joined as authors so far. As soon as others do the same, I will add you as admins as well. I need to correct the email addresses of a few of you too.

The library is all decked out for the holidays! Christmas books are on display and ready and waiting to be checked out. We have a great collection of both Christmas novels, and books and magazines with good ideas for the season. And if you want to read some wonderful stories to children, the top of the shelf in the children's room is chock full of holiday picture books. I read Socks for Supper, by Jack Kent at the last storytime. It is an old book, but with a wonderfully funny and heartwarming story. We also have Christmas music and movies to check out.

Our Blog!

Good day, fellow readers! Welcome to the We Really Read The Book Book Club blog! I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. There is so much that I have to be thankful for, and one of the most enjoyable is our friendship, the many books that we read together, and the wonderful meals and thought provoking discussions we have shared. I like each of you so much, and feel very honored to be your librarian.

In an attempt to facilitate planning our gatherings and also to allow us to share our thoughts on the books that we read, I have started this blog. I would be grateful for any of you to add to the posts, links, comments and other features of this blog. I would be very happy to help you to use the features of blogspot.

I have just started reading the next selection that Chris chose for our book club, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, by David Wroblewski. If you have not picked up your copy, stop by the library and check it out. It has great reviews. Here is a quote from Stephen King, "Wonderful, mysterious, long and satisfying: readers who pick up this novel are going to enter a richer world. I envy them the trip. I don't re-read many books, because life is too short. I will be re-reading this one."
It is a long book, so it would likely be better to give ourselves till sometime in January to finish it.

I would like to invite all of you to my home for our December Christmas gathering on Thursday, Dec. 18 if most of you can attend. I already spoke to Gerry and Melanie, and that day works for both of them. We can follow our tradition of each purchasing a children's book and a book to exchange with each other. I will look forward to hearing back from you. I will watch for your responses in the comments. I love comments!!
